I am announcing my candidacy for the office of County Commissioner, District 2 in Escambia County.

I have lived in Escambia County for 28 years. I was born and lived my entire life here. I love this community. This is a great place to live. There is much potential here.

Like many in this community, I have become angry, hurt, disappointed, and disenchanted. Election after Election all we hear about is change and trust. Politician after politician asks us for our trust and promises change. They tell us what they think we want to hear in order to get our votes and then they ignore us. Transparency and trust are not things that can be turned on and off at will. They are all or nothing. I feel that some politicians just do not fundamentally understand that these are not options, but requirements to the job.

As a citizen I want a representative that is open, honest and obeys the law. I want someone who follows through with their promises. This is what I want to be for the citizens of Escambia County.

I do not consider myself to be a Politician. I am a citizen of Escambia County that believes I can do the job with honesty and integrity. I am asking for an opportunity to earn your trust.

The focus of my campaign will be a little unusual for someone running for office. I intend to listen. Whether I am at your front door, holding a focus group, or we are interacting online, I will be listening to your thoughts and ideas. And once elected that will not stop. You will always have a voice while I am working for you.

We have many problems to work through in Escambia County. We are not always going to agree on the best solution. It is my hope and intent that instead of the fighting and personal attacks we have experienced in the past that we can and will compromise and work together. That we will remember the adage that while many times the destination is the same, sometime the path to getting there is a little different.

In announcing my candidacy, I invite you to please get to know me. I invite you to share with me you desires and concerns for a better community. Help me to make our community a more prosperous place to live by joining with me in our political process. I am ready to go to work.
